Buy on Amazon: Antique Maps of TexasTM (AMoT), an innovative digital atlas, was introduced in 2001. Edition 4 is now in release with over 100 new Texas map images from as early as 1777, and a new map display format. History: Over the years, the AMoT CD atlas has become a favorite as a gift, as a genealogical resource, a research & academic tool, a writers aid and as a general history product. Today over 70 Texas retail, academic, and professional stores and institutions now stock and feature Antique Maps of TexasTM. Over 15 thousand copies are in circulation. New Presentation Software: The 4th edition is a complete revision using an investment in the latest software technology. It has created a new way to look at these historic maps and views by simulating, at full screen size, the look of a large paper map atlas with the ability to flip pages and use bookmarks. Also enhanced is the exclusive ability to zoom deeply and pan across any map image to search out details that are generally almost invisible on even the largest printed map even with a glass magnifier. Most historic Texas maps have far more detail embedded on the page than is easily viewed from a printed sheet. New Content: While the total number of images from original maps has been increased to well over 300, it is more important that almost 50% of the maps are new additions. Many of those from earlier editions having been replaced by more topical or suitable originals. Most of the new map additions are larger and more detailed. The core of Great Texas Maps are at the center of the collection and many new additions are in place. The Texas Colonial and the Texas Republican periods have additional map support. There are expanded sections that include Military and Exploration maps as well as an expanded Mining & Geological map category. The section on early Texas Topographical maps has been reworked.
